Cool Off with a Rockin River Trail Ride
at the beautiful Rockin R Ranch

At the historic Rockin’ River Ranch, we offer Arizona’s most scenic and memorable trail rides along the banks of the beautiful Verde River, one of the last free-flowing rivers in the desert Southwest. This diverse riparian (meaning river bank) habitat is rich in wildlife, frequented by elk, deer, javelina, bald eagles, and great blue herons. In the summertime, grand old cottonwood trees provide a shady canopy for much of our ride.

Begin your experience by heading out to the ranch in our comfortable vans and learn a little about the early days of the Arizona Territory along the way. Once at the Rockin R, take in the beautiful views of grazing horses on lush pastures sprinkled with huge cottonwoods and sycamores.

From there, after a brief orientation, our wranglers will guide you along the trail by the picturesque Verde River, keeping you safe while you enjoy all that nature provides. While our wranglers are known for sharing a tall tale or two, they are always happy to answer any questions you may have and help with pictures to capture the memories.

Once back, after your ride, we’re not in too much of a hurry around here… hang out at the ranch, watch the horses graze, or gaze out at the horizon. If you choose our Lunch Ride so you can settle that trail blazin’ appetite you’ve worked up, we'll serve a picnic lunch at a cool and shady spot on the river bank, and invite you to enjoy a little relaxation at the Rockin' R before heading home.

All of our rides include transportation to and from the ranch. The minimum age for trail riders is 8 years old.

The “Complete Western Experience”
The Complete Western Experience, offered by Rockin River Trail Rides and A Day in the West, is the ultimate cowboy experience and Western Show. This adventure starts with a two-hour jeep tour provided by A Day in the West (the oldest tour company in Sedona). You’ll take in beautiful views of Sedona’s red rocks, and enjoy a little rugged 4X4 excitement. The cowboy and cowgirl guides are extremely entertaining and informative.

After the jeep tour, guests are transported out to the Rockin River Ranch for a one-and-a-half-hour trail ride along the banks of the cool Verde River. Discover the splendor of the Verde Valley while enjoying a fully-outfitted horseback ride, which includes crossings of the Verde River.

After your trail ride, you’ll be returned to Sedona and the historic Relic’s Restaurant, built in the early 1900’s. Once a stagecoach stop and general store, here you’ll be served a delicious dinner with all the fixin’s, while you enjoy a delightful cowboy musical comedy show, presented by the hilarious “Prickly Ticklers”.
