Outfitted in hard hat, miner’s headlamp and a yellow slicker, thousands of Bisbee visitors descend into the Queen Mine Tours each year—heading underground and back in time. Tour guides, retired Phelps Dodge employees, lead the group 1,500 feet into the mine and recount mining days, techniques, dangers and drama. Adding a personal touch, the miner-turned-tour guides help visitors experience what it was like to work underground.

Queen Mine Tours
Explore one of the most productive copper mines of the 20th century. Don the mining lanterns, hats and slickers of the miners and ride the mine train deep underground. Search for remaining veins of copper, gold, turquoise, silver, lead and zinc and experience the lives of miners as they toiled in the subterranean tunnels.
Tours depart each day, seven days a week, from the Queen Mine Tour Building, located immediately south of Old Bisbee’s business district, off the U.S. 80 interchange. Reservations are suggested. Tours last approximately 1 hour. The mine is a cool 47 degrees year-’round. Please dress warmly and arrive 20 minutes prior to the tour. No open toe shoes or high heels permitted on the tours.
