New Year's Eve Great Pinecone Drop - Hotel Weatherford, Flagstaff

New Year’s Eve Great Pinecone Drop in Flagstaff

Like a giant holiday ornament, the Weatherford Hotel hoists a giant illuminated Pinecone high atop the historic building. A digital countdown will tick away the final moments of 2018.

Like the Times Square drop ball in New York City, Flagstaff revelers love to come out and ring in the New Year in local style… and a 70-pound, six-foot, lighted aluminum pinecone certainly fits the bill!

During the celebration there will be two countdowns and pinecone lowerings. The first one’s at 10 p.m. to coincide with New York’s Times Square celebration. Another is, of course, at midnight to mark Arizona’s entry into 2019!

There will be songs and a crowd countdown as the Weatherford Hotel dazzles with a light show. Also, the City of Flagstaff illuminates the sky with fireworks.

The Great Pinecone Drop event is free and appropriate for all ages.

Attendees are encouraged to carpool or use public transportation to and from the event.

NOTE: This is an outdoor event and the average temperature at this time of year is usually 10-20 degrees Fahrenheit, so dress very warmly! Clothing including heavy jacket, hat, gloves and scarf are recommended.
