Memorial Day in Arizona Event Guide 2018

First of all, if you’re like the vast majority of Americans, summer is about to kick off with Memorial Day weekend. Whether you’re coming in from out of town or already an Arizona resident, we’ve got some great suggestions for you! Stick with traditional commemorative activities or choose from a variety of others… just don’t miss out on creating some awesome new memories for Memorial Day 2018!


Pioneer & Military Memorial Day Ceremony — Phoenix

Especially relevant, if you like traditional ceremonies where uniforms and colonial-wear come out to honor veterans, is the Pioneer & Military Memorial Day Ceremony. Marty Manning of KEZ 99.9 FM, as Master of Ceremonies, will be honoring Arizona’s veterans of past and present. Tours of the 19th century-built Smurthwaite House will be available after the ceremony, featuring a display of Victorian-era glassware. Self-led and guided tours be available for all seven of the historic cemeteries. This event is FREE.

Star Spangled Celebration — Phoenix

Another chance for some fireworks, anyone? This event is for the whole family! The Star Spangled Celebration is a FREE event honoring veterans, police officers and firefighters who died in the line of duty. The event includes live music, police and fire demonstrations, water play, bounce houses, fireworks, and more!

When: Friday, May 25th / 5 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Phoenix Comic Fest — Phoenix

If fantasy and comics your thing you’ll be glad to know that Phoenix Comic Fest is coming! Immerse yourself in a 4-day multi-genre entertainment, comic explosion of greatness! Come in costume, or not, just get yourself to this event! Meet with, get autographs from, and take the perfect selfie with your favorite authors, actors, and creators! With a family game room, interactive Lego building area, and parkour lessons, this is sure to be a hit for all ages!

The CityScape QuestFest — Phoenix

Also joining in on the Comic Fest action this year is CityScape with their 3rd Annual QuestFest! Want to win a hero’s prize? Willing to take on a challenge? From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., CityScape retailers will offer Phoenix Comic Fest participants $2 food and drink specials.   Those on the Quest will travel to at least five CityScape Retailers, trying their specials and in return will receive a stamp. Memorial Day Weekend at the Wigwam — Litchfield Park

Especially fun on Memorial Day is of course a pool party! The Wigwam Resort has put together THE ultimate pool party for families!   With waterslide races, a pool obstacle course, dive-in movie, and water balloon games, you name it and it’ll be there! Just when you think the fun is over, on Sunday at 10:30a.m. WILDLIFE WORLD ZOO will be there with some activities for the kiddos as well!

Wyatt Earp Days — Tombstone

National Memorial Cemetery Memorial Day Ceremony — Prescott
